Terms of Use
Every ScoutHitch account reads and accepts this when signing up.

These terms are the agreement between you and ScoutHitch. They are written in plain language on purpose. By creating an account you agree to them, along with our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy.
1. Who can use ScoutHitch
In short: Adults only. Accounts are for registered adult volunteers and unit staff.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. ScoutHitch is built for adult leaders, committee members, and other adults who help run a pack, troop, or crew. Youth members do not get accounts. Their records are kept by the adults who serve their unit.
By signing up you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you will use ScoutHitch only for the scouting unit(s) you actually serve.
2. Your account
In short: Keep your password private, use your own account, and tell us if something looks wrong.
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
- Use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else. Never share your login.
- One person, one account. Don't let anyone else (including youth) use your account.
- If you think someone else has used your account, change your password and email security@scouthitch.com right away.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Units, roles, and who is in charge of the data
In short: Each unit's admins decide who can see that unit's records. You only get access an admin approves.
Each pack, troop, or crew on ScoutHitch is managed by its own admins. Admins approve who joins and choose each member's role (Admin, Leader, or Viewer). Information about youth and adults in a unit is entered by that unit's leaders on the unit's behalf.
Unit admins are responsible for giving access only to adults who have a real need for it, and for removing access promptly when someone stops serving the unit. ScoutHitch provides the tools; the unit decides who uses them.
4. Information you add
In short: You keep ownership of what you add. You give us permission to store and show it so the app works.
You (and your unit) keep ownership of the information you enter. You give ScoutHitch permission to store, process, and display that information only as needed to run the service for your unit — never to sell it, advertise with it, or use it for anything unrelated.
Only enter information you have the right to share and that your unit actually needs. Get the consent your unit and its chartered organization require before entering information about youth or other adults.
5. Acceptable use and youth protection
In short: Follow the Acceptable Use Policy. Youth safety comes first.
You agree to follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which includes youth-protection rules for how information about young people may be used and shared. Breaking it can lead to suspension or removal of your account.
6. Not an official record
In short: ScoutHitch helps you track progress. Your council's official system is still the record of truth.
ScoutHitch is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for Scouting America or any council's official advancement and membership systems. Requirement text in the app is a paraphrased tracking aid, not official handbook text. Always report advancement through your council's official process.
7. Availability and changes
In short: We work hard to keep ScoutHitch running and safe, but we can't promise it will never go down.
We aim to keep the service available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose, and keep official records in official systems.
We may change or stop features. If we make a meaningful change to these terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Acceptable Use Policy, we will ask you to review and accept the new version the next time you sign in.
8. Ending your account
In short: You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend accounts that put youth or the service at risk.
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. Deleting your account removes your login and your memberships. Records your unit keeps about youth stay with the unit, under the control of its admins.
We may suspend or remove an account, without notice when necessary, to protect youth, other members, or the service — for example after a credible report of misuse.
9. Limits of liability
In short: To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScoutHitch and the volunteers who operate it are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
