Summertime Fun keeps Scouting going during the summer. Join three Cub Scout activities between May and August and enjoy the outdoors with your patrol or family. It's a fun way to stay connected before crossing over.
Why it's worth it
The summer before or during your Arrow of Light year is a great time to stay active in Scouting. Day camp, pack events, and troop activities keep you connected with your patrol and give you a head start on the outdoor skills you'll use in a troop. All it takes is three activities.
Start this week
- Ask your den leader for the summer pack calendar and circle three events.
- Ask your adult about Cub Scout day camp, Webelos or Arrow of Light resident camp, or family camp in your council.
- Ask whether a nearby troop has a summer event your patrol could join.
Plan ahead: Only activities between May and August count. Pick your three early so the summer doesn't slip away.

- Requirement 1
Take part in three Cub Scout activities in all, any time from May through August
Tip: Try day camp, a pack picnic, a hike, or a troop event. Keep a list of what you did.
For example: Your three might be a week of day camp, a troop's open-house campfire with your patrol, and a patrol swim day. Free ideas count too, like a patrol service project at a park or a pack hike. Write down each date and one highlight.
Talk about it together
- Which summer activity was your favorite, and why?
- What skill did you practice this summer that you'll use in a troop?
- Who did you meet that you'd like to see again?
- What are you looking forward to this coming year?
